Tatung Wins “Best System Integration Solution” at LinuxWorld for Blade Server Integrated with ManageSite™ from Amphus

August 7, 2003

San Francisco, CA – August 7, 2003 – Tatung Science & Technology, Inc. (TSTI®), announced that it won the “Best System Integration Solution” Open Source Product Excellence Award at LinuxWorld. The award was given for its newly announced TUD 3114 Blade Server, integrated with ManageSite server management software from Amphus. The integrated solution is being demonstrated this week at Booth #162 of the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Data centers achieve substantial total cost of ownership (TCO) savings with the new system’s high performance, high density, built-in manageability and significant savings in power consumption. The TUD-3114 features integrated switch blades and management blades, supporting up to 196 power-saving low voltage Intel® Xeon™ processor-based servers per rack, or up to 14 independent server blades in a single 3U form factor chassis. With multiple server blades, redundant switch blades, management blades, power supplies and fan modules, the system offers built-in high availability, allowing no single point of failure.

The TUD-3114 blade server supports Window 2000, Window Server 2003 and Linux operating systems.

"Cost-conscious customers need the integrated solution to save capital as well as operating costs,” said Dr. Kam Chan, president of Tatung Science and Technology, Inc. (TSTI), a U.S. subsidiary of the multi-national Tatung Company. “They achieve measurable benefit from the increased performance of the blade server environment and save on power consumption, using this integrated, manageable package.”

Fully integrated management software makes operations cost-effective

ManageSite software from Amphus is fully integrated with the TUD-3114
to provide policy-based automated provisioning and hardware monitoring. The integration enables remote management of the blade servers, lights-out and out-of-band management of the server blades and automatic switch-over for high availability. Voltage, temperature, speed of each blade and module are monitored. Modules can be reset, shut down, or have their power cycled.

“The integrated solution that TSTI has produced deserves the recognition of the Open Source Product Excellence Award,” said Henry Fung, chairman and CEO of Amphus. “The integration of Amphus’ ManageSite server management solution with the TUD 3114 platform offers data centers substantial savings in their total cost of ownership (TCO).”
